Take The Tour: Navy Bedroom Makeover

Do you ever experience like decorating projects acceptforever?I often struggle to stay focused on just one room at a time, which results in a lot of rooms halfway busy. If you're the same way, you should totally challenge yourself to focus on one room for a few weeks and see how much of a deviation information technology makes. For me, the difference is HUGE!

Just five weeks ago, I started the 1 Room Claiming and ready out to transform our master bedroom from its mishmash, half-busy country into a relaxing, decorated escape. V weeks goes actually fast when yous only have evenings and the occasional weekend to piece of work on things! Merely I dear a adept challenge and was determined to complete our bedroom makeover.

I'm beyond excited to show you the consequence of my decorating focus. The before and afters are my favorite part of any room makeover, and this mail service is filled with them! It's amazing to me to wait at them and realize just how much decorating I accomplished when I focused on this one room. I tend to have a gazillion projects going at in one case, which means that things take forever to get finished. So it's squeamish to actually wrap up this room in a reasonable time frame.

If you're not familiar with the One Room Challenge, it's hosted by Calling It Home each leap and fall and a couple hundred bloggers usually participate. The claiming is to completely brand over one room in 5 weeks. All the bloggers share weekly progress updates, and so today is the day when we all reveal our completed rooms. So there are a lot of room tours in blogland today!

The Before

Hither's a quick await at the original state of our bedroom. I hadn't spent any fourth dimension on information technology since nosotros moved into our house about a year and a half agone, and so information technology definitely needed some sprucing upwards. There wasn't anything horribly wrong, just it felt far from complete. The basic piece of furniture was all in good shape, and I knew I could make everything look more polished with a good color scheme and some pigment.

This is the Before, go check out the After of this navy room makeover for the One Room Challenge.

The After

Cheque out our bedroom! Information technology feels brand new and has become such a relaxing place to retreat to in the evenings.

Hither's a skilful earlier and after shot:

The walls are a beautiful shade of navy and the trim and closet doors are crisp white. The banal beige is completely erased from this room! I use Valspar's Night Swim color and am so pleased with it.

I beloved this beautiful pin tuck white comforter I establish at a ridiculously low price. We've had it for a month now, and it however looks gorgeous. We treated ourselves to these new white sheets from Target, and I am very happy with how soft and silky they experience. The subtle design is a nice touch on. I found a couple blue pillows at Gordmans, a identify I only stopped in by happenstance. They have a pretty boom caput blazon embellishment on the edging. Here's the link to the aforementioned pillow on Amazon, although they were quite a bit cheaper at Gordmans.

I was working diligently on a headboard this past week, but threw up my easily in DIY defeat a couple days agone. Some DIY projects just aren't meant to be, right? I yet desire to add in a headboard, only am going to save that project for another day.

I needed something to hang to a higher place the bed, and ended up relocated the thrifty magnolia wreath and vintage frame that I created final week. Although I didn't intend to hang the wreath in this room, I actually like how it looks.

I large thing nosotros wanted to amend in our bedroom was the window treatments. We had cheap mini blinds up, which didn't block nearly plenty light in the mornings. So we opted for neutral cream color Eclipse blackout curtain panels. They have a soft canvass look to them and keep the room nice and dark while nosotros're sleeping.

Those two shadow boxes to the left of the window (above photo) are items from our wedding ceremony day. I made them a long fourth dimension ago and hadn't yet institute a place for them since nosotros moved into our house. Bedrooms are a nifty identify to decorate with sentimental items.

If you want to give your all to everyone else, you need to be at your best. Taking a bit of me time every day is essential to your wellbeing. The greyness nightstand turned out so gorgeous! Much prettier than the cheap pine nightstand it was previously. It looks then sharp and refreshed with a glaze of this night gray chalk paint.

What a gorgeous nightstand painting project! I love the dark grey chalk paint finish with brushed nickle pull. Great One Room Challenge bedroom makeover.

The nightstand in the corner to the right of the bed is made up of 2 crates stacked on top of each other. I didn't accept a lot of room to piece of work with square footage wise or in my budget, so these were a great solution since I already had them on hand.

Ooh, I have to point out that adorable blue jar and succulent. I came upwards with the thought to place information technology on my side of the bed to use equally subconscious storage. My nightstand typically has lots of pilus ties and bobby pins all over information technology, then my plan is to lift up the artificial succulent and drop my hair accessories in the bottom of the jar at night. I retrieve it will exist an easy peasy way to continue them corralled and out of sight.

I was struggling to find something for the top of David's tall dresser. Information technology was tough to decorate since the dresser is at an angle. I ended upwards filling this white vase with clippings from the ugly bushes in front of our business firm. Those bushes are a bit crazy outside, just their branches await then swell in vases!

These white shelves fit so nicely between the closet doors to the right and the door to the hallway on the left. I found that behemothic white metallic frame on clearance at Kohls, rounded upwards a white frame I had and added some greenery to complete the look.
